"TOUGH CHOICE"
Back when I did this painting, Colorado ran some "combined" seasons (meaning both deer & elk seasons at the same time). The dilemma faced by guide Greg Koleberg, is to either shoot from his horse (risking a wreck w/ a client's cherished rack), or to try getting down first and tieing-up (which would most likely spook the deer and not get a shot). Well, the latter is what he tried. He didn't even get the safety off, but he knows that buck was his if he would have tried the other alterative. And then, this might have been a different painting - "After the shot".
