
USS Barb SubmarineDID YOU KNOW? The USS Barb
(SS 220), a Gato Class submarine, was the
most famous submarine that served during WWII.
It sank the most tonnage of any WWII
submarine and was the most decorated. She
was the first submarine to employ rockets
and the only one to blow up a railroad train.
On one occasion, when out of ammunition,
she rammed an enemy ship till it sank. She
also pursued enemy ships on the surface,
attacking in the style of torpedo boats,
diving only when necessary to escape.
This 19 x 15 1/2 inch hardwood framed
picture with 3 colored mats, consists of a
submarine patch USS Barb (SS 220) and a gold
tone submarine emblem. Pictured on the
