During World War II it was the B-17 Flying
Fortress that became legendary as one of the
most reliable and rugged bombers. It would fly
at high altitudes, carry a heavy bomb load and travel
great distances to hit its targets. The
Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941
successfully destroyed many of the 129 B-17s
that had been built. The B-17s major role was
to bomb Germany's vital military manufacturing plants.
This 17 1/2 inch by 15 1/2 inch hardwood framed
picture consists of an Air Force patch, Air
Force wings, three World War II Army Air Corps official
postage stamps (three cent stamp is 55 years odl)
