P-51 Mustang Airplane

DID YOU KNOW? The P-51 Mustang was designed and a prototype tested in an amazing 117 days. It turned out to be considered the finest fighter plane of WWII and was credited with destroying more enemy aircraft than any other American fighter. As a long-range escort fighter, it earned the nickname of "Little Friend" from bomber crews that would otherwise be easy prey for attacking German fighters. The P-51, at 440 mph, was the fastest American plane flying in WWII. This 17 1/2 inch by 15 1/2 inch hardwood framed picture consists of an Air Force patch, Air Force wings, three World War II Army Air Corps official postage stamps (three cent stamp is 55 years old) and a maxicard picturing a P-51 Mustang.
