Texaco Oil CompanyDID YOU KNOW?
Memorabilia associated with oil companies has
become a popular collectible. Probably no oil
company produced memorabilia to the extent of
Texaco. Here is just a small list of items
produced down through the years: die cast
replicias of airplanes, oil trucks, cars, banks,
salt and pepper shakers, thermometers,
marbles, cookie jars, trading cards, paper
weights and even Christmas ornaments. Certain
such items can bring hundreds of dollars in
the collector market. Texaco continues to
produce collectibles. The lastest started in
1997 and continues into 2000. It consists of
a series of 15 inch stuffed bears. The first
was "Tex" wearing the Texaco service uniform
(now worth over $100). Second was "Ace," "The
Texaco Flying Pioneer" dressed in Texaco
flying outfit, goggles and all. Third (1999)
was Texaco Fire Chief "Teddy", dressed in
leather like fireman's outfit. At present
(2000), the fourth bear named "Speedy", the
Texaco/Havoline Racing Bear is dressed in
Texaco overalls complete with sunglasses and
hat. Framed in hardwood, the picture measures
16 1/4 x 15 3/4 inches. Three different mat
colors add to the picture's appearance. Included
in this picture is an art print of a Texaco
station, a Texaco patch, a Commerative
Cover and a 4 cent petroleum industry
stamp issued August 27, 1959.
