| Hanauma Bay is an eco friendly beach located 14 miles from Waikiki. It first gained notarity from the movie "Blue Hawaii" with Elvis Presley. It is 2000 ft of white sandy beach. The crescent shaped bay was formed by an extinct volcano.
It is a perfect spot for snorkling. The tropical fish and sea urchins love swimming in the coral at the bottom of the bay, making it a GREAT place to see marine life. Snorkel, mask and fin rental available on the beach.
To eleminate over crowding and help preserve the eco system, there is a charge to use the Beach. At the time of this writing it was $5 per person, plus a small fee for parking. | | Sandy Beach is the next beach just up the road from Hanauma Bay. It is one of the best spots on Oahu for body surfing. The waves can be deceiving so be sure to look for warning flags or check with a life guard.
It is a favorite place for local kids to fly kites. Pick one up when in town and bring back childhood memories. The winds there will do most of the work. | | Makapuu Beach is a 1000 foot long by 200 foot wide white sandy beach. It sits at the bottom of a sea cliff and it is a great place for body and board surfing.
Caution: Waves can get up to 12 feet high. Beach activities are seasonal. Be sure to check for posted signs and only swim when safe. The weather is ideal all year but swimming is safer in some seasons than others.
It is very picturesque with a lighthouse just above the beach.
Locals love to come from September to April and watch the hang gliders jump from the cliffs while enjoying the view of Manana(Rabbit) Island. | | Windward Oahu, Hawaii. Malaekahana Beach and State Recreation area is a popular camping/picknicking ground as scattered groves of ironwood trees provide shade. The beach is narrow, but just long enough for a leisurely half-hour stroll from end to the other. The waves never grow too large, and at times, can be just perfect for the novice bodysurfer.

The small, consistent shorebreak provides excellent bodysurfing and bodyboarding opportunities for children and other novice wave riders, and the park offers good sites for picnicking and camping among its many ironwood trees.
Waimanalo is one of the longest white sand beaches on Oahu. The entire beach is over three miles long. The beach is wide, and the ocean bottom slopes gently to overhead depths across a series of shallow sandbars. Small, one-to two-foot high trade-wind generated surf breaks on the sandbars all year round.
| | Lanikai Beach is considered by many locals to be the best swimming beach in Hawaii, Lanikai's clear waters, clean, wide beach, and swaying coconut palms also make it a photographer's dream. A mile-long stretch of powdered-sugar sand is perfect for sunbathing. Sparkling turquoise waters sheltered by a wide, protective offshore reef provide ideal swimming conditions. Other popular activities on Lanikai include kayaking, outrigger canoeing, sailing, surfing, and windsurfing. With the twin Mokulua Islands in the distance, Lanikai Beach truly lives up to its translated name of "heavenly sea."
