Emma Orquiz Viescas was born May 29, 1926 in Mesilla Park, New Mexico, to Jose Anulfo and Natalia Diaz Orquiz. She was the oldest of four children. She met and married Epimenio B. Viescas when she was a teenager after World War II. She then moved to Los Angeles, and proclaimed herself an "Angeleno", and was proud to be called a Californian. Her memories of Los Angeles were the birth of her first son, riding the street cars to go shopping. She became very interested in politics and never forgot to cast her vote for her favorite Democrat. She strongly believed in Labor unions and would never cross a picket line. Her favorite sports teams were the L.A. Dodgers and the L.A. Lakers. She was a loyal American who loved her country and her flag.Emma O. Viescas was a wonderful, caring, loving, giving person. She always opened her doors to her family if they ever needed a place to live. She will truly be missed by all that came to know her. She truly in her heart, accepted the Lord Jesus as her Lord and Savior and knew that He had all her times and seasons already ordered. He has ordered every step she took, even in those dark days of pain and suffering, she accepted it and she knew by the Spirit when it was truly the Lord's time to go home to be with Him. She rested peacefully in His arms and said as she took her last breath, "LET'S GO, LET'S GO, Margaret." She was ready to be with the Lord where there is no more pain, no more suffering and finally she will be eternally happy. She truly lived the scripture in her last days with us. He says He will never let you go, and He will be with you always. HIS MERCY ENDURES FOREVER.
Rest in peace, mama, until we meet again.
From all of your loving family and friends.

Mama Linda
I always called her "Mama Linda" and a mama linda she'll forever be, for she lived in her beauty and she left in her beauty and even in her last hour, she smiled, in her beauty, at me.
Emma, you gave me the greatest gift. You smiled at me as you said good bye; and I will never forget, for my heart shall will never to forget and that is how I will honor your memory. Thank you Emma for sharing your last moments with me. Thank you God for allowing me to be there. Thank you for letting me be there for my best friend Margaret as she bravely let go of her precious beloved Missy Girl. What courage I beheld, what bravery my soul witnessed, what strength and amazing trust in her God, knowing that He would take good care of our "Missy Girl" our "Mama Linda" our "Emma." What an honor for me to be granted that precious moment which will forever be engrafted in my memory. My life, touched and changed in ways unimaginable, is privileged for having known and loved my Mama Linda.
Bye Mama Linda, until I see you in heaven. I can see you there having fun, running and laughing and talking with Jesus. You are no longer sick, nor are you in pain. You look young and healthy and beautiful just like the pictures we saw of you at your memorial celebration. I wonder if you have met my son Tim yet. Say hello to him for me Emma. Tell him that I miss him and I'll see him again. I'll think of him and you everyday until then. You guys beat us and got to heaven first but it won't be long before we will all join you and we will make up for lost time. Jesus will wipe away all our tears and take away all our sorrows and we will be happy for all eternity. Thank you for spending Christmas and my birthday with me. Even though you were sick, you wanted me there; Thank you
I love you,
Minerva
